  • A conversation with myself

Me: Isn't this fun, staring at a blinking cursor?

Myself: Oh come on, just write the durned thing.

Me: But it's so... so... stupid.

Myself: So? No one has to read it but you. Just write for yourself and have fun.

Me: Write for myself? But what if I think it's stupid?

Myself: You don't think it's stupid. You like it.

    Me: I do?

    Myself: You do.

    Me: Oh.

Don't you love those internal dialogues? Sometimes they can be so validating and motivating and other times they can make us see what we wouldn't see otherwise; good or bad.  Go with it.  You like it.  So write it.  Even if no one else reads it and it is just for you.  Do if for you.

Listen to yourself and write the thing!  Even if it is silly, it can be tweaked, corrected, edited, and rewritten.  However, all of those actions need one thing, something to start with.  So, get crackin' girl!  :)

PS If all inspiration is lost, you can always write an ode to a blinking cursor.  ;)  It wouldn't quite fit Sam, but still you would be writing.  :)

@anavrea - As it so happens, you are my inspiration, Rachel, plugging away whether you feel inspired or not. And reading your things has shown me that even when you feel blah writing it and aren't happy with it, it can still sound good to others, or at least far more decent than you supposed. This is encouraging to me.

@LaDamedeShallot - I am glad that I can encourage you with my own struggles.  :)  Don't give up!  :)  I want to read Sam's story someday...hopefully soon.  :) (Oh, and anything else you write and want to share.)
